I’d had a pretty rubbish 24 hours for various reason so I needed to get out of my tiny office and spread some happy, I went in to my local town and left a few happy newspapers lying around. As we know it’s kind of guaranteed I’ll make at least one new friend every time I step out of my front door. As I was sat in the bus station, Paul (pictured) came over and asked if he could sit next to me. I’d left one of the newspapers on the chair next to me and he said “is this yours?” I said you can have it, and I got it out of the string it was wrapped in and showed him some of the pictures and read some of the stories and explained what it was… I’d also put a little note in there (the ‘everyone wants sunshine no one wants pain’ quote) – He loved it. But decided the rolled up newspaper could be used in a million different ways, a drum stick to which I attempted beatboxing along to his beat (HA!!), a telescope, something to hit his head with, a trumpet… the list was endless, but he was having a great time and it made my heart the happiest because he had no idea how crap I’d felt just before he came along and he had me laughing so much. ANYWAY just as the story couldn’t get any better, I got up to get on the bus but the drivers were changing over so I sat back down and a girl behind me had placed a folded up note under my chair that said “Read Me” – So I did (see photo!)… I wasn’t 100% sure if it was her that had left it but I guessed she had heard me and Paul chatting so I asked her and she nodded, I thanked her and told her she didn’t know how much it meant to me and that I’d keep hold of it forever. By this point Paul had said he wanted to leave the newspaper for somebody else, so I gave it to the girl (still with the little note inside to return the favour). I’ve just got home and received the loveliest email off the girl (Megan) through the happy news website – SERIOUSLY what a time to be alive, if you put the good stuff out there, you’ll get it right back – even on the days when you’re feeling like shite. We all have those days and being a little bit kinder to one another makes ALL the difference.
