Recovery is not the final destination; it is in fact the start of a new journey. The closing of one chapter and the opening of a new.
Whilst this too is a long and winding road, you walk it with a small skip in your step and much more awareness with every step you take. You still take it 1 step at a time and you still wonder what lurks around each corner but you do so with much less fear in your heart. You know now that if you veer of course, it will pass and you will find yourself back on the right path much quicker than before. Some days it might be a struggle and you might need somebody out in front cheering you on, other days you might be the person cheering someone else on; there will always be someone behind you to give you that push.
Once on that path, you might be tempted to step outside of your comfort zone. To challenge yourself to new adventures, or to simply do something that you weren’t able to do before.
If you have a dream or a passion, follow that dream, follow your heart.
Think about what you have already overcome and think about how far you can go.
But like everything, take it 1 step at a time. Never stop putting one foot in front of the other, left foot right foot!
