Once you have received or acknowledged the new ‘label’ given to you its very hard to know where to start and in which direction recovery lies.
It is likely to be a long road, with many bumps, twists and turns along the way and you are bound to take the odd wrong turn as you go. But recovery is possible as long as you are putting 1 foot in front of the other and remember:
the joy is in the journey, not the destination
You’re either on your own road to recovery, or you are here because you are concerned about a friend or loved one. So, lets take those first tentative steps and consider some of the alternative coping mechanisms that will work in conjunction with the traditional methods of treating mental health and are going to help you as you head in the direction of recovery.
